BME POS

The phone won't connect: make the Windows network "Private"

Windows blocks phones from connecting to the computer when the network is "Public".

When the Windows network is "Public", the firewall blocks every connection to the computer, so the phone cannot link or sync. BME POS then shows a red "public network" card.

Windows 11

  1. Open Settings → Network & internet.
  2. Choose Wi-Fi (or Ethernet if the computer is wired), then the connected network.
  3. Under Network profile type, choose Private.

Windows 10

  1. Open Settings → Network & Internet → Status → Properties.
  2. Under Network profile, choose Private.

Go back to BME POS and press Check again.

Make it "Private" only on your shop or home network, never on a public network such as a café. The BME POS firewall rule works on private networks only.
